Fasten your seatbelts, folks. This is a big one. Might not seem like it, at first, but I’m pretty sure that history will bear this out. The fact is, I’ve been sitting with this for five years and counting. And, to be honest, I could probably get myself into a bit of trouble for even revealing this much…
… but I just can’t help myself. There’s a particular comicbook project -- in production even as we speak -- that, for me, is so big… so cool… so monumental… that I simply cannot contain my excitement anymore. And, seeing as how I’ve already lamented the state of mainstream marketing awareness in our f**ked up little industry, I might as well take matters into my own hands. To a point, at least.
Besides, we’re all friends here, right? There’s a healthy level of trust between us, right? I’d like to think we’re all fairly like-minded, that we all know what’s up… what’s at stake… but we tend to go for it anyway.
So, what follows are some random visuals. I imagine that some of them probably give away at least something about the nature of this project.
Like many of the “mainstream” projects I’ve been involved in lately, this one is another huge commercial swing. At least, conceptually speaking.
Of course, as you can see here… the craft and artistry involved in this project exists at an incredibly high level. And I’m not talking about the writing (obviously). Sure, I did my part to the best of my abilities… but mainly I’ve provided an opportunity to showcase the visual aspect of comicbooks in a way I’m not often able to. I can guarantee… you have not seen anything like this before, no matter how long you’ve been reading comicbooks. This one is special. This one is unique.
There’s an emotional component to this project, too, in as much as it reunites me with a collaborator who I have always held in the highest possible regard. A fellow warrior on the creative battlefield that is the comicbook medium. Enigmatic and genuine in equal measure. His talent is literally unparalleled in our industry. Not to mention, he’s a great, lifelong friend.
So I really can’t hype this thing enough. And while I’m not saying anything about it officially here in this newsletter… quite possibly, I may just break down and spill the beans on what this thing is sometime in the coming weeks. Like I said, I just can’t help myself. Because for me -- and for comicbooks (the kind that I’m generally into, at least) -- I really think this is just about as good as it gets.
So feel free to start salivating in anticipation… now!
Much more to come…

Looks amazing!! is that Ladronn on art chores?
OMG New Gods but set in some kind of past era? Possibly the era they originally came out in? I see clothing styles and such (so many men wearing hats!) that could fit in the early 1970s...
