Judgement Day never sat well with me because there wasn’t any follow up. Alan’s Youngblood series only had 3 issues (of a proposed 12?) and none of that Awesome stuff bore fruit. (KaBoom by Matsuda was great !) - Moore’s plans for Glory essentially became Promethea (but no Brandon Peterson on art!)

Man, this has got me so hyped for this story arc. Im considering this story kind of the send-off for the Image Seven Revolution (in my head canon).

I love Alan Moore's work, but not all of it is pure gold, you know? I think Judgment Day was at its' least simply a paid gig, and at best it was a warm up for the America's Best Comics line. (Top 10 is the best one of those books, IMHO). I'm content to ignore Judgment Day.

Oh boy...I am about a decade younger than Joe Casey, so I was actually a rabid fan when Image started, to the point that I left Marvel completely and followed them there exclusively for a few months (I would eventually drop most of their titles, I think I continue collecting Spawn, Dragon and Wildcats for a few years). Eventually I disconnected from most of their titles, but I remember when Liefeld left and the controversy that followed. I actually collected Judgement Day as a fan because of Moore and...I was not impressed. Not only because of the complete character assassination that was the Sentinel recon, but also because he wasn't even allowed to be a nuanced villain going forward. Everything about the character was stripped down, he no longer was smart, a good husband and father, but a hustler that came from the most stereotypical of backgrounds. Because he was a Liefeld creation I think most people don't think twice about it, but there are a lot of problematic tropes with Moore writing.

This comic is such a highlight of my reading schedule. Can't wait to dig in to this storyline in a few weeks.

Really love this title. Would be interesting to see if some of the Wildstorm character/analogues appear in BS7.

I thought the same thing when I read Judgment Day. I honestly think that Moore's reputation tends to deflect criticism.

Absolutely, and not just him, it tended to happen with a couple of auther British authors as well, but those 2 fell from grace already. My issue was always that JD just felt like a Watchmen greatest hits collection, wasn't really that deep, and character assassinated the only black member of Youngblood that wasn't a complete monster (hello Chapel). And not only that, but we never even got a nuanced villain like Ozymandias was, instead Sentinel became a collection of problematic stereotypes that robbed the character of any good attribute. So while Ozymandias was still a smart and morally conflicted character at the end of Watchmen, Sentinel was just always a fraud.
