As an old fart too long time, I find that when the artist has the skill the so-called Marvel system (Lee didn’t invent it, others had worked that way before) let’s say the preferred way of doing at least genre funny books. Even now with full scripts, some writers get the artists involved early on. Gillen’s on record as being one.
